Wake Up With the Sun

Ayurveda recommends rising during Brahma Muhurta — roughly 45 minutes before sunrise. At this hour the mind is naturally calm, the air is fresh and the body is ready to absorb the energy of a new day. A consistent early rise also balances the Vata dosha, which governs movement and alertness.

Start With Warm Water

Before anything else, drink a glass of warm water, ideally stored overnight in a copper vessel. This simple habit flushes ama (toxins) from the digestive tract and gently wakes up Agni — your digestive fire. A few drops of lemon or a pinch of honey can be added if it suits your body type.

Cleanse the Senses

Tongue scraping (Jihwa Prakshalana) removes the coating that builds up overnight and improves taste perception. This can be followed by oil pulling (Gandusha) with sesame or coconut oil, and Jala Neti for clear nasal passages. These practices are quick, but their effect on immunity and oral health is remarkable.

Massage & Movement

A short self-massage with warm sesame oil nourishes the skin, calms the nerves and improves circulation. Follow it with 15–20 minutes of gentle exercise, a brisk walk or simple Surya Namaskar. Movement in the morning keeps joints supple and the mind sharp all day.

Eat a Warm, Light Breakfast

Ayurveda advises warm, freshly cooked food in the morning — such as poha, upma, dalia or seasonal fruit. Heavy, cold or packaged food disturbs digestion early in the day. End your routine with five minutes of quiet meditation or deep breathing, and carry the calm into your work.
